The wedding of two of Celine's longtime friends was an amazing event, and quite possible the most moving and impressive wedding I've witnessed. I was also asked to be the wedding photographer, so I got the first shot at everything! Here's a LONG review of not only the food, but also some of my favorite shots of the beautiful day:
It started the night before with what American would call a rehearsal dinner, for friends and family:
The Next morning started with preparations and a review of the ceremony site:
As the Maid of Honor, Celine helped the bride into her dress:
Preparing the starters: this is a pyramid of macaroons with faux-gras in the middle |
Then all 120 guests gathered at town hall to officiate the marriage
Then to the party site for a more religious outdoor ceremony, followed by an amazingly detailed "vin d'honneur," a fancy aperitif and starters before the big evening meal...
A pause for photographs before the evening meal
Each table was designed by one of the couple's favorite books. I got to sit at the Alchemist table |
Bring on the Dinner!
A few hours later the cheese arrives...
A few hours later (around 1:00 am) the dessert arrives!
Finally, around 2:30 am, the Pièce montée is brought out, which is the french equivelent of an American wedding cake. It's made with a lot of pastries and caramel, usually in a shape to fit the wedding's theme (in this case, books).
Then time to party until the sun comes out! |
